REPORTCARDS

Mother Evangelista School at St. Joseph's Village Children who attended school within the Village did so in a separate school building which continued to gave each child the sense that they were leaving home — the cottage — each morning to go to school. When they received a report card four times each school year, the effect was continued as they brought the card "home" to the cottage mother who signed it and perhaps enforced the need to concentrate more on their homework.

Several report cards are still to this day in the possession of those who once attended Mother Evangelista School.

There was seperate blanks for grades 1-3 and for grades 4-8. Scroll down to see the fronts and backs of each of 3 typical cards.

While many children don't even want to let their parents, or the cottage prefect, see their card, Marilee Slater has no problem sending her third grade card to us so the whole world see it here.
